Becoming a Parish Nurse

Faith Community Nursing is designated a nursing specialty by the American Nurses Association. Nurses wishing to practice as a parish nurse, must be a professional licensed registered nurse who has completed additional education in faith community nursing. There are many ways to receive faith community nursing education. In Minnesota there are two organizations that offer the Westberg Institute (formerly the Church Health Center) approved course, Foundations in Faith Community Nursing.

If you are a registered nurse, have an active MN license, are a member of a Minnesota United Methodist Church, and would like information regarding parish nurse education scholarships, email us at [email protected].
